The Southern Washington Mineralogical Society is a member of the Washington State Mineral Council, the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies.

Washington and Oregon are highly mineralized states with lots of good material still waiting to be found, and our Southern Washington rock club is very active in searching it out, as well as displaying our finds both at Show and Tell in our club meetings and in our yearly rockhound club shows, as the pictures below attest.

Every year we have field trips here in Southern Washington that yield a lot of good agate, petrified wood, crystals and a variety of other material, as well as field trips as far away as Nevada and Arizona. Pre-meeting programs are held from time to time starting at 3:30 PM on meeting days to demonstrate and/or teach various skills, such as wire-wrapping, cabbing, knapping and other rock-related crafts. Meetings begin at 7 PM on the 4th Sat. of each month at the Catlin Grange, 207 Shawnee St., N. Kelso, WA 98626, Cowlitz County, except July and December.

Our yearly shows attract a lot of dealers, both indoors and out, and there are fun games and activities for the kids and grown-ups alike. We also have a Scholarship Fund that helps promote the study of Geology, with proceeds from the show and other club activities.

New members are always welcome, and dues are only $12.00 per family or $10.00 per single, per year. You can't buy a pizza for that.
