New Needs and Doings:
Executive Board replacements needed: Our club needs replacements for our outgoing Librarian and our Mineral Council Representative. If you can take over either of these tasks, please be sure to speak up at the next meeting OR you can call Emmett Johnson at 360 636-3491. You can also use the website email function at the bottom of the Contact page to pass on the good word, and thank you in advance!
Our Club Host, Dave Roth, is leaving his position as Host and we need someone to fill that position. Dave has also been our Washington State Mineral Council Representative, so there's yet another post that is now vacant and needs a volunteer. The Host (or Hostess, if a gal takes over) is our official greeter, welcoming new members and overseeing the selection and wrapping of the door prizes.
We Need: Someone to be in charge of the kitchen. This person will see that the food is set out and that the cleanup volunteers get the dishes washed and put away, and so forth. Kitchen Detail, just like in the Army except you don't have to peel spuds and someone else does all the dirty work. PLUS the suggestion is out there that the Kitchen Overseer (I made that title up. Has a nice ring to it, eh?) be a member of the Executive Board.
Last on the list for now but far from least, are those who run the Rest Area free coffee and cookies handout that brings in so much money to our club. We need people to replace last years volunteers. Great job for a couple. Again, it's suggested that the Rest Area people also be made members of the Executive Board. This will be brought up and decided at our next meeting in May.
Door Prizes: It would be a great assist to our Host if members who have a lot of high grade rock would bring in a slice or chunk once in awhile to lend more excitement to our door prize surprises, as well as generating more enthusiasm for them. ("Oh, look, a 3 inch tall Carey Plume with angel spots, here." "Yeah, and look at this, a prime piece of blue Biggs Jasper.") Okay, that's a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea. :-) A little generosity will go a long way toward spicing up our meetings in a good way, and you may just end up winning a nice slab someone else brought in. |
